This policy explains what Brainsnag ("the game", "we") collects and why. The game is operated by Measured LLC, doing business as Brainsnag, a District of Columbia limited liability company ([OWNER TO CONFIRM: mailing address]). Contact: support@playbrainsnag.com.
Your progress, hint balance, settings, Daily Troll streak and purchase entitlements are stored in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data or using "Reset progress" in Settings removes them.
When analytics are enabled we use PostHog to record gameplay events (level started, level completed, wrong move, hint used, ad shown, purchase made, share tapped) together with a random identifier, device and browser type, and approximate region derived from your IP address. We use this only to find levels that are too hard, fix bugs and keep the game working. We do not sell this data. You can turn analytics off in Settings → Your Privacy Choices.
Ads may be served by Google (H5 Games Ads / AdSense) on the web version, or by the game portal hosting the game (for example CrazyGames or Poki). These partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads and, where permitted, to personalize them. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland Google shows its own certified consent message before any ad technology loads, and you can change your choice at any time from that message. Everywhere else you can opt out of personalized ads in Settings → Your Privacy Choices. Rewarded ads are only ever shown after you tap a button asking for one.
Web purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe stores your email address and payment records; we use that email only to restore your purchases when you ask us to (Settings → Restore by email), which sends a one-time code to that address.
We count how many times each level is attempted and solved, in aggregate, with no identifier attached.
Local game data stays on your device until you delete it. Analytics event data is kept for 12 months and then deleted or anonymized. Restore-by-email codes expire after 10 minutes and are deleted within 24 hours. Purchase records are kept for as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes, generally 7 years.
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah or another state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask for its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Ad partners' use of identifiers for personalized ads may count as "sharing": you can opt out at any time with the Your Privacy Choices / Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information toggle in Settings, which turns off personalized ads and analytics on this device. To exercise access, correction or deletion rights, email support@playbrainsnag.com; we respond within 45 days and will not discriminate against you for making a request. We operate only online, so requests are handled by email at support@playbrainsnag.com; we do not offer a toll-free number. We will verify your identity before acting on a request. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf if the agent provides your written permission, and we may still ask you to verify your identity.
Our legal basis for analytics is legitimate interest in improving the game; for advertising it is your consent, given through Google's consent message. You may withdraw consent, object, or request access, correction, deletion or portability by emailing us. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
The game is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
We will post any changes here and update the date above. Material changes will be announced in the game.
